The Chesterland Tavern has been a landmark of Chester Township for over three quarters of a century.
The original Valley Villa Inn log cabin was built by Robert Painter in 1929. Being in a dry township at the time, no beer or wine was served in the establishment until prohibition was repealed in 1933. Finally, the sale of liquor took place in 1978. From 1940 though today, the inn has seen some big changes.
In the 40’s, Tinny Lyman made the inn well know with his Friday-Night-Fish-Fries and in 80’s the Tavern opened an outdoor-eatery with a barbecue that was a legend in its time.
The Chesterland Tavern is owned by Don Hofstetter and his goal is one of innovation and attention to detail, also to remain true to the varied history and traditions of the Chesterland Tavern. Good food, fine spirits, great friends. Welcome home!
